(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The CariVerona Foundation turns over a new leaf in the name of continuity. In a packed meeting lasting over five hours, the general council of the Verona-based institution elected Bruno Giordano as its new president, approving the name indicated by outgoing number one Alessandro Mazzucco. There was 'great consensus' with 'only one abstention and the others in favour', Giordano himself commented, setting the course for his work from now on: 'I will base my entire mandate on dialogue, sharing, efficiency and concreteness'. Also satisfied was Mazzucco, who left the institution's headquarters together with his successor. "It is enough to choose the right person. I am especially happy with the hands in which I am leaving' the Foundation: 'They are the right hands,' he remarked.
As for the Foundation's main shareholding, the approximately one per cent stake in UniCredit, Giordano, speaking to Radiocor, confirmed his line of full support for the current top management, led by CEO Andrea Orcel and chairman Pier Carlo Padoan. "I think Unicredit is very well managed by this team," he explained. He also reiterated his support for the list presented by the outgoing top management in view of the forthcoming UniCredit shareholders' meeting, which will have to elect the new board of directors: "We have great confidence in Orcel for the way he is managing the bank, so I think it will be like that.
