Carvico grows in sustainability with renewable energy and recycled materials
The Lombardy-based company, which gives its name to the international 296 million turnover group, published its second Sustainability Report
A decrease in overall emissions of 8.1%, all purchased electricity coming from certified renewable sources, almost 100% of materials recycled or recovered, and 42% of the yarns used already coming from regenerated materials, with significant shares of polyamide (48%) and polyester (62%) from recycled raw materials: these are some of the most important results of Carvico, a leading international manufacturer of warp-knitted stretch fabrics, published in its second Sustainability Report, covering the year 2024.
Founded in 1962 in the small town of the same name in the province of Bergamo, and which today gives its name to a group with a consolidated turnover of €296 million, with factories in Italy, Vietnam and Ethiopia and sales offices in China and the United States, Carvico has also consolidated its governance tools, strengthening corporate ethics, occupational safety, training and inclusion policies, while the business continues to create value: 2024 closed with a net profit of €6.291 million and a distribution of 89.4% of the value generated, confirming a balance between sustainability and growth.
Innovation is confirmed as the driving force for change: from energy efficiency to heat recovery systems, from technical interventions to further reduce emissions to the planning of green solutions such as photovoltaic shelters for recharging electric vehicles and the progressive replacement of the company fleet. Among future goals, the company is considering the construction of a new purification plant to promote water reuse.
"The path of sustainability is not a finish line, but a daily journey," noted Evalda Carissimi, General Manager of Carvico. "We measure, share challenges and invest every day to give value back to those around us and to the planet that hosts us.
The search for sustainability at Carvico not only passes through processes, but also through products: among the most recent novelties is the Vita Life reference, made with Econyl (the yarn, patented by Aquafil, of 100% nylon regenerated from pre- and post-consumer waste materials, already widely present in Carvico collections), to which has been added for the first time the Lycra elastomer made with 70% bio-derived materials, from maize from crops not intended for human consumption and annually renewable.
