Flotilla case, Ben-Gvir investigated in Rome. He: 'You are the land of flip-flops'

As part of the Global Sumud Flotilla affair, the Prosecutor's Office in Rome has entered in the register of suspects the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, who last May addressed words of derision towards the activists while they were kneeling and with their hands tied behind their backs in the port of Ashdod. For the boarding of the activists - including the Italian ones - by the Israeli authorities, a investigation file has been open at piazzale Clodio for a few weeks now, in which the offences of torture and kidnapping are also alleged.

"We are pleased with the inclusion of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in the register of suspects. It is sacrosanct that there should be an investigation against him for that video, for that behaviour towards activists, but we must not forget that Ben-Gvir is a minister in the Netanyahu government, he is an expression of the Zionist system of that government", commented the Italian spokeswoman of the Global Sumud Flotilla, Maria Elena Delia.

The minister's reaction on X is, to say the least, unhinged: 'The country of the Boot has become the country of flip-flops. Iraele,' he adds, quoted by the Israeli media, 'is not a punching bag for a bunch of lying terrorist supporters who fabricate slanders and lies against our fighters. I will not be deterred by this or any other investigation and will continue to stand proudly by our fighters'.
