Following Minister Valditara's announcements, the decree reforming the Maturity exams should arrive at the Council of Ministers on Thursday. Starting with the name: they will no longer be called State exams but Maturity exams.

The reform

.

The reform also aims to redefine the overall structure of the examination, in particular the interview. The new wording of the oral test should in fact be designed to assess the student's autonomy, awareness and ability to argue more carefully.

Mandatory Oral

.

Another central point, those who voluntarily refuse to participate in the interview, despite having completed the written tests - as was the case in some cases during the last state exams - will have to repeat the school year, whereas until now it was possible to be promoted, despite not taking the orals, thanks to the credits obtained and the written tests.

Entry into force

.

If they are approved on Thursday, the changes can be applied from the next school year and thus the new rules are set to come into force with the 2026 Maturità.
