The government of the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta, situated on North African soil, is “concerned” about calls circulating on Moroccan social media regarding a new mass influx into the enclave, which is reportedly planned for 15 August. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Ceuta government, Alejandro Ramirez, according to a report in El Mundo.
“Obviously, following what has happened, it is worrying that these rumours are circulating on social media,” admitted the representative of the Autonomous City during a press conference held after a meeting of the Governing Council.

Ramirez assured that the local council had brought “these messages” to the attention of “the relevant authorities so that they can take them into account should something similar occur”. “We hope that doesn’t happen,” the spokesperson concluded.

According to reports by the broadcaster Antena 3, the Spanish security forces have also identified new calls for a mass entry into Ceuta in the middle of the month. Security sources consider the plan implausible, arguing that neither Spain nor Morocco would allow a situation similar to that which occurred a few days ago in Ceuta to happen again.
