Changan unveils its second model for Europe at the IAA Mobility, which runs until 14 September. Its name is Deepal S05 and it is a fully electric C-Suv equipped with a 68.8 kWh high-voltage lithium-ferrous phosphate battery, which can be recharged at a fast-charging station with a power output of up to 200 kW, allowing a range of up to 485 kilometres.

Designed in Europe for Europe

.

With roots in the Turin Design Centre and Birmingham R&D Centre, the Deepal S05 is the second model for Europe after the Deepal S07 D-Suv and is distinguished by its compact dimensions: 4,598 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,600 mm high.

The styling is characterised by clean lines, domed wheel arches and a sporty, dynamic silhouette to emphasise the European character of the five-door C-Suv at first glance. Frameless windows and flush, electric door handles give the new model a luxurious appearance and outstanding aerodynamics.

With a drag coefficient of only 0.25, the Deepal S05 sets new standards in terms of efficiency and range. A distinctive feature of the new Chinese model is the active front grille, which closes at high speeds, further contributing to the Deepal S05's aerodynamics and efficiency.

Dimensions and on-board technologies

The wheelbase length of 2,880 millimetres offers ample legroom and, depending on the version, a 1.9-metre panoramic glass roof amplifies the feeling of spaciousness.

At the centre of the modern and ergonomic interior is a 15.4-inch touchscreen with voice control, which can be tilted 15 degrees towards the driver or front passenger to reduce glare.

Depending on the equipment package, the Deepal S05 also offers a heads-up display with augmented reality technology for online navigation. Updates can be done over-the-air so that the Qualcomm processor is always up-to-date.

The use of vegan leather on the steering wheel and seats underlines how Deepal S05 combines luxury and sustainability.

The luggage compartment offers a capacity ranging from 492 to 1,250 litres, while the front compartment has a capacity of up to 159 litres and is ideal for hand luggage or charging cables.

Available engines

.

The electric motor on the rear axle delivers maximum power of 200 kW and torque of 290 Nm, providing rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

In the Awd variant, an asynchronous electric motor on the front axle adds 120 kW of power and 212 Nm of maximum torque, enhancing driving pleasure and performance.

Both variants are powered by a 68.8 kWh high-voltage lithium ferrous phosphate battery.

In addition, the standard heat pump and pulse battery heating significantly improve the daily range: the Rwd variant consumes 15.9 kWh per 100 kilometres (Wltp), offering a range of up to 485 kilometres on a single charge. The Awd variant, on the other hand, consumes 17.5 kWh per 100 kilometres, achieving a range of up to 445 kilometres.

At a direct current (DC) fast-charging station, the Deepal S05 can recharge to a power of up to 200 kW, reducing charging time to a minimum. In just 15 minutes, the battery is recharged from 30 to 80 per cent. At an alternating current (AC) charging station, recharging is possible up to 11 kW. With the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, the C-Suv can power external devices with up to 6 kW, demonstrating exceptional flexibility.

Safety and driver assistance systems

Regardless of the equipment package chosen, the Deepal S05 comes standard with 17 intelligent, future-ready driver assistance systems that enable Level 2 autonomous driving. The body is optimised to offer the best performance in the event of impact, making it a particularly safe everyday companion.
