Charmaine Poh’s innovative style on display at Mudec Photo
The first solo exhibition in Italy by the artist who won the Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year award is on in Milan until 1 November
The body, vulnerability, and the most innovative technologies and languages. The fresh face of a teenager as a means of reflecting on the human condition
women, human relationships, the contradictions of complex societies and collective tensions. And, in the background, labour migration policies
in China and Singapore, not to mention environmental issues.
All this, and much more, is encapsulated in the artistic vision of the Singaporean-Chinese artist Charmaine Poh, who has been named Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year 2025. The Museum of Cultures, together with Deutsche Bank and in collaboration with 24 Ore Cultura (Il Sole 24 Ore Group), is dedicating an exhibition to her, entitled Make a journey deep within yourself and don’t forget to take with you.
A child actress in Singapore in the early 2000s, Chairmen plays with her own avatar and reflects on the issues closest to her heart, such as cyberfeminism and queerness. She does so through photographs, videos and installations to explore the themes of identity, memory and digital technologies.
