Chery, the main brand of the Chinese giant already present with Omoda & Jaecoo makes its debut in Italy
The group's European strategy is completed. From June, in fact, the brand founded in 1997 of the automotive group already present in 120 countries with over 18.5 million users globally will make its debut in Italy. It will join the already well-known Omoda, Jaecoo and the more recent Lepas and iCaur on the way.
Chery has chosen Italy for the European debut of its main brand, which from June will join the group's other brands, Omoda and Jaecoo the first two to land in our country.
Expanding the offer in Italy is an important step in the Chinese group's strategy, since it responds to the growing demand for hybrid and low-emission cars not only in Italy but also in the rest of Europe. In fact, Chery, the brand founded in 1997, will offer a complete range of New Energy Vehicles, with full hybrid and plug-in HEV engines that will cover an increasingly broader market segment with models ranging from the most compact to the largest vehicles, including seven-seaters for young people and families.
The models that will arrive in Italy are still to be defined
The main brand arriving in June will operate in synergy with both Omoda and Jaecoo as well as the more recent Lepas and the future iCaur. Drawing on its eight research and development centres in Europe, Asia and America and offering the innovative Chery Super Hybrid system, the result of over thirty years of technological development, Chery aims to increase its presence in Italy by offering efficient, reliable models in line with the needs of European mobility. The incoming Chery models have not yet been announced, but we can certainly already imagine that the offer will be centred on suvs in the first instance, but also on electrified or hybrid belines. The decision to enter Italy now will ensure the brand's confirmation as China's leading global exporter.
China's top exporter for 23 years running
As of 2025, Chery reached the Dual 500 milestone by entering the Fortune Global 500 with more than 18,530,000 units exported worldwide, ranking 233rd in the global rankings and confirming its top export position for the 23rd consecutive year, first among all Chinese brands currently on the market. It also sold a total of 2,806,393 vehicles in 2025, of which 1,334,020 units were exported, an increase of 17.4%. To the Chery models arriving in June, we must also add those of the premiun brand Lepas, namely the three L8, L6 and L4, while by the end of the year it will be the turn of the other brand ICaur with the V27. A respectable team that will consolidate the Chinese group's already very wide offer.
