(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Chinese stock markets closed mixed, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rising by 1.46 per cent to 23,294.42 points, whilst in Shanghai the Composite Index fell by 1.44 per cent to 3,599.02 points.
Although the Hang Seng Tech Index closed slightly higher, up 0.29 per cent, a number of technology shares have been hit by concerns over the sustainability of AI following disappointing financial results from leading global technology companies.
Among the worst performers in the sector are the AI firm Z.ai (-8.38 per cent), Lenovo (-7.41 per cent) and the semiconductor firms Iluvatar CoreX (-8.12 per cent) and Hua Hong (-6.04 per cent). It was a rollercoaster ride for Byd (-0.58%), which, after falling by as much as 2.4% at the start of trading due to results that fell short of expectations, recovered towards the close.
