On the occasion of the 65th edition, the Pirelli Prize for Schools, now in its second year, is also awarded. The award is reserved for the best article or investigation dedicated to the world of education.

The winners of the Pirelli Prize for Schools 2025 are Gianna Fregonara and Orsola Riva (Corriere della Sera).

The school is the first educational community in which the future takes shape. With this award, Pirelli wants to encourage a journalism that is attentive, participatory and close to the new generations, capable of lucidly and passionately recounting the challenges of education. In 2024, Eugenio Bruno and Claudio Tucci of Sole 24 Ore won the award.

With these awards, the Premiolino reaffirms the centrality of information as a democratic garrison, rewarding those who have distinguished themselves for a narrative of the present carried out with clarity, depth and a sense of responsibility.

The jury of the Premiolino decided to honour the memory of Viktorija Roščyna, the Ukrainian journalist barbarously tortured and murdered for her reportage, with a special mention.

Comments

.

Chiara Beria di Argentine, President of the Jury of il Premiolino, comments: "1960-2025. In a time of little memory, growing indifference and dark horizons, reaching the 65th edition of the Premiolino - based on the voluntary and passionate commitment of a Jury composed, as the founders wanted, of journalists who had already won the prize and with the support since 2023 of Pirelli - is a very precious goal. This year the Jury - gathered at the Villa Bicocca degli Arcimboldi hosted by Pirelli to debate and vote for six signatures worthy of winning the Premiolino - first of all wanted to denounce the terrible price paid in 2024. A black year for peace and for information: never since the post-war period have so many journalists on the frontlines of conflicts, especially in Ukraine and Gaza, lost their lives bearing witness to unspeakable atrocities. In particular, the Jury addresses an emotional thought to the memory of Viktorija Roščyna, the journalist of the Ukraïns'ka Pravda newspaper, who was tortured and murdered in Enerhodar. On the evening of the award ceremony we will remember you Viktorija! On the domestic front, according to the Reporters sans Frontières press freedom ranking, Italy has fallen from 46th to 49th place, not only because of the stranglehold of criminal organisations in some regions, but also because of political entanglements. Not to mention the growing spread of fake news via social networks. In this scenario, the Jury wanted above all to reward articles, investigations, reportages and in-depth studies that help citizen-readers to form opinions that are not pre-constituted or biased. And in this trajectory, the Pirelli School Prize, now in its second edition, is really important: sowing respect for the rules, reinforcing the principles and knowledge of our civilisation is the great task of those who speak to young people through old and new media". Chiara Beria of Argentine

Marco Tronchetti Provera, executive vice chairman of Pirelli, emphasises: 'Pirelli is pleased to continue supporting such a prestigious initiative as the Premiolino. We are living in a season in which it is essential to invest even more than in the past in schools, in continuing education, in tools that allow an ever deeper understanding of changing realities. The sense of the Pirelli Award dedicated to quality information on school issues is precisely this: to enhance the media's attention to issues of learning and knowledge, to stimulate journalists and scholars to address the various aspects of the growth of knowledge, both personal and collective. In the quality of schools lies our future'. Marco Tronchetti Provera.
