Budget Law 2026: new price increases on cigarettes and cigars, here are the brands affected

Bad news for Italian smokers. After thecigarette price increases in the first quarter of 2026, today - 6 May - comes the another increase provided for by the Budget Law 2026. This was announced by the Monopolies and Customs Agency, which published a new table with the updated costs. The last sting, in fact, was only three weeks ago.

The price range currently fluctuates between 10 and 50 cents per packet, with an average of 20 cents per cigarette purchase. But this is not the end of the story, as tobacconists have to prepare for the next shower of price increases, just like their customers, as further changes in the price range are planned until 2028.

The increase amounts to EUR 10 per kilo and mainly affects the Corset brands: its variants - such as Pink, Lilas and Marine - cost EUR 5.70. Another brand caught in the crosshairs of price rises is The King, where excise duties are as high as EUR 5 per kilo. As a result, the price now hangs between EUR 5.30 for the White and Blue packs, while the Storm version costs EUR 5.40. This is 10 cents per pack, so tobacconists have to stick to the new price list.

The Meloni government's decision was to increase excise duties on cigarettes, but this time it is cigar smokers who have to pick up the tab. It is the latter, in fact, that is the real protagonist of the latest price rise. Cigar lovers must therefore do the maths in their pockets before going to the tobacconist's for their purchases.

Well-known consumer brands such as Zino, Plasencia and Camacho have been hit by the sting. For example, Davidoff now costs 6.80 euro, while the Antico Sigaro Nostrano del Brenta breaks through the 10 euro ceiling to its current price of 13.50 euro.
