In the picturesque region of Cilento, the municipalities of San Giovanni a Piro, Roccagloriosa, Celle di Bulgheria, Camerota and Torre Orsaia are joining forces for the 'Borghi del Benessere' project. Coordinated by architect Giuseppe Del Medico and promoted by mayor Ferdinando Palazzo, the initiative aims to transform these villages into dynamic centres of health, wellbeing and quality of life, while enhancing their rich architectural and cultural heritage.
The project - which participates in the call Borghi Salute Benessere promoted by the Campania Region and Scabec - aims to create an integrated network model among participating municipalities, focusing on the redevelopment of historic buildings to improve the overall tourist experience. An experiential and sustainable tourism is promoted, celebrating the natural environment and the Mediterranean diet, fundamental elements of life in Cilento.
Proposed activities include nature excursions, outdoor sports and guided tours to explore the breathtaking landscape and discover local traditions. In addition, it is planned to promote local food and wine, highlighting the area's characteristic agricultural and wine production.
A crucial aspect of the project is the support and valorisation of rural traditions and local handicrafts, which are considered essential to the local social and economic fabric of communities. It is intended to encourage the preservation and transmission of this knowledge through training and initiatives that promote youth entrepreneurship and the creation of new employment opportunities.
From an economic point of view, the project envisages an estimated investment of 50,000 euros, which will be used to support tourism marketing activities, infrastructure for widespread hospitality and cultural promotion.
