The circle is tightening around the appointment of Cinecittà's top management. According to the Sole 24 Ore, the name in pole to fill the role that until now has been Nicola Maccanico's is that of Manuela Cacciamani, producer and president of Anica's Union of Publishers and Digital Creators.

Founder of One More Pictures

Manuela Cacciamani is certainly a prominent figure in the audiovisual world. In 2006, she founded her film and audiovisual production company One More Pictures. Also since 2006, she has been a partner in Direct 2 Brain, a VFX, post production company and software house in the audiovisual sector.

The role in Anica

.

Forty-eight years old, in her biography available online you can read about her experience as a lecturer at the Holden School where she taught a course in Crossmedia and, in the 2019-2020 academic year, she taught the Video design course at the European Institute of Design. In 2021 she was elected by the members of Anica as president of the Union of Digital Publishers and Creators. In 2018 she launched with Rai Cinema the national contest "La Realtà che Non Esiste" (The Reality that Doesn't Exist) to select new authorial ideas to be realised in traditional and new formats in Virtual Reality and Video Mapping.

However, a predestined one, one might say, considering the curiosity of her father who was once among Cinecittà's employees. For her, the doors of the citadel of cinema on the banks of the Tiber should now open, to which she should arrive as head after the years of Nicola Maccanico, who arrived on the bridge of command with a past in Sky as a first line manager as well as managing director of Vision Distribution (a distribution company that is part of Sky).

Cinecity and tax credit

Cinecittà is a public company, with the Ministry of Economy and Finance as sole shareholder and shareholder rights are exercised by the Ministry of Culture, in agreement with the Mef. This reality, founded in 1937, went public again in 2017 and became a joint-stock company in 2021, which has so far enjoyed an expansive phase with a boom in requests from historical producers as well as on-demand platforms, driven also, it is a common opinion among insiders, by the tax credit, which in Italy is at 40 per cent. However, the revision of this mechanism, together with the lower expenditure for original content by platforms, has now led to a strong slowdown in this race, which has led Cinecittà to announce that it has closed for the second year in a row with a profitable budget. After the 954,000 euros of the 2022 financial year, the accounts for 2023 also closed with a positive result, in this case by 1.3 million, with a pre-tax profit of 1.8 million.

De Mita jr.

.

The appointment of Manuela Cacciamani comes after the resignation of Nicola Maccanico whose reconfirmation, however, had been in the balance for some time as revealed by Il Sole 24 Ore on 7 May. For the role of CEO, the most credited name was that of Giuseppe De Mita Jr, who is on excellent terms with both Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and his sister Arianna. From De Mita Jr., however, came the no thank you that would have opened the door to Manuela Cacciamani. Now, after the approval of the budget in recent weeks, the time may have come for Cinecittà to close the circle. Ad horas
