Cinven negotiates the purchase of Burger King in Italia
300 million offer. The aim is to integrate it into RBE and sell the resulting group, which has already attracted the interest of Apollo, CVC, KKR and TDR.
Cinven has submitted an offer of around EUR 300 million to Kharis Capital for the Italian business of the Burger King chain. The aim is to integrate it into RBE and sell the resulting group, which has already attracted the interest of Apollo, CVC, KKR and TDR.
British private equity firm Cinven is negotiating with Belgian firm Kharis Capital to acquire Burger King's Italian business and integrate it into Restaurant Brands Europe (RBE), the group that manages Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Horton's businesses in Spain and Portugal, and of which the fund controls 70%, according to several market sources consulted by EXPANSIÓN.
Talks with Kharis Capital to acquire Burger King's Italian business are taking place in parallel with the sale of RBE, a process that is still in its early stages but has already attracted the interest of some of the international private equity heavyweights, such as Apollo, CVC, KKR and TDR, according to sources. RBE's goal with the acquisition of Burger King's operations in Italia is to replicate in the transalpine country the model successfully applied by the company in Spain, where Burger King has 1,000 restaurants, and in Portugal, with over 200 locations.
