Evaluating initiatives that combine strategy, technology and vision was a privilege and a confirmation of the central role that the CIO plays in driving the transformation of organisations. >

"Receiving the CIO+ ITALIA AWARD 2024 in the CIO+ EXCELLENCE category is a great honour for me and is dedicated to the entire community of PagoPA technicians and engineers. This award is a recognition of the long work done by PagoPA to create technological excellence also in the public sector, putting innovation at the service of citizens. We firmly believe that digital is much more than a matter for technicians: it is the lever on which we must continue to strategically invest in order to build a more modern, accessible and people-friendly Public Administration," said Mirko Calvaresi, CIO of PagoPa, who won the CIO+ Global Excellence award in this edition with the 'IT Wallet' project.

In the CIO+ Disruptive Officer category, Gionata Tedeschi, General Manager of Innovation and Technology of the 24 ORE Group, distinguished himself with the "L'Esperto Risponde" project: "I am particularly pleased to receive the disruptive officer 2024 award, in recognition of our ability to innovate with AI, enhancing the intellectual and cognitive heritage produced by humans. At the 24 ORE Group, we have in fact applied an approach of artificial intelligence that we define as 'regenerative', capable of offering new content formats and greater speed of use, while always keeping our experts at the centre (human-in-the-loop)". The CIO+ DISRUPTIVE OFFICER 2024 prize was awarded to Tedeschi for 'having led, within a multimedia publishing group, a cutting-edge project of personalised consultancy accessible to all,' as explained in the Jury's motivation. 'Thanks to the use of generative AI, the historic service of "L'Esperto Risponde" is evolving, becoming an indispensable ally for citizens, professionals and businesses. Thanks to technology, every question finds a comprehensive and timely answer, provided by experts in the field and enhanced by artificial intelligence, when technological innovation is put at the service of people."

In the CIO+ Empowerment Officer category, the winner was Piergiorgio Grossi, Chief Innovation & Data Officer at Credem, who presented the "AINEXT" project. which has made it possible to transform an already avant-garde business model into a true data-driven bank (solution), capable of integrating artificial intelligence in all its functions and thus enhancing its efficiency, governance and competitiveness, consolidating the group's position as sector leader. On his behalf, Stefano Bevivino, Team Leader Artificial Intelligence & Data Solution of Credem, took the stage to receive the award.

The winner of the CIO+ in the Digital PA award is Floriano Dian, Chief Digital & Technology of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti with the project 'Digital Bond on DLT': 'We operate in a market where the correlation between the success of companies and their ability to adopt new digital technologies is rapidly increasing. To support companies on their growth path in this context, systemic technology infrastructures need to evolve in tandem. The DLT Bond trial has shown how the use of distributed ledger technology and smart contracts within a regulated framework makes it possible to issue, purchase and settle central bank e-money in straight-through processing, avoiding lengthy post-trading phases. The potential for systemic efficiency that can result from a large-scale adoption of this model does not only affect financial markets, but also many companies and SMEs for which a new capital market would become accessible.

Winner infine in the CIO+ In the Green Digital Economy category special prize Alfredo Gatti in memory of the Founder of CIONET Italia is Claudio Balbo, Head of IT Architecture of Intesa Sanpaolo "GT Gen-AI", who says: "This award represents a further recognition of our Group as a best practice in technology and confirms the market's interest in the digital transformation path undertaken by Intesa Sanpaolo, which has made innovation and the adoption at scale of new technologies one of the enabling aspects of the 2022-2025 Business Plan. In the adoption of generative AI technologies for IT activities, particularly in the Software Delivery Life Cycle, Intesa Sanpaolo is acting as a first mover, having created a platform that covers the entire sw delivery cycle and having made it available to its approximately 6,000 IT resources in Italy and abroad and, in the coming weeks, to external system integrators. This platform, called GT GenAI, marks an important starting point to organically include generative AI technologies in the processes of the IT structure, with the finality of increasing the capacity to address the growing digitisation needs of the Group and the country.

The Jury's contribution to the success of this edition of the CIO+ ITALIA AWARD 2024 was invaluable, as it was a spokesperson for the guidelines that characterise the digital world today and to whom we extend our deepest thanks: Davide Gindro Group Chief Information Officer & Chief Digital Officer of SOL Group, Claudia Curci Dipt.
