West Bank, hooded Israeli settlers attack Palestinians
The Israeli army also claimed to be "aware of footage showing an IDF soldier using violence against a Palestinian"
Clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinians took place on Saturday near the West Bank town of Huwara. This was reported by the website i24NEWS. The Israeli settlers had arrived in trucks, accusing the Palestinians of cattle theft. In addition, a video circulated showing an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) soldier assaulting a Palestinian, apparently also near Huwara.
The clash broke out after the group reportedly found part of the missing flock inside the Palestinian village. Palestinians and Israeli settlers then threw stones at each other, with several Palestinians reportedly injured.
Footage shot at the scene shows masked men damaging vehicles, while Palestinian sources report vandalism against property and theft of livestock.
The Israeli army (IDF) also stated that it was "aware of footage showing an IDF soldier using violence against a Palestinian. The actions depicted in the footage are serious and incompatible with the values of the IDF. The incident is under investigation. Once the soldier is identified, he will be subjected to disciplinary proceedings and appropriate disciplinary and command measures will be taken based on the results of the investigation."
Police said that the District of Judea and Samaria had opened an investigation. Officers and forensic investigators entered Huwara with military forces to collect evidence, findings and testimonies, police said, adding that those responsible for violence and property damage will be prosecuted.
