Citizenship income, the fraud continues: in Foggia, undue payments of almost 700,000 euro

Despite the fact that the citizenship income has ended up in the attic, the trail of frauds for undue receipt of the state subsidy continues. In the preventive action of the Fiamme Gialle with targeted checks to protect public spending, the latest fraud in order of time is the one uncovered by the financiers of the Provincial Command of Foggia. A real fraud that earned 63 a total income of 691 thousand euro.

The controls, explains a note from the Fiamme Gialle, involved the entire Capitanata territory and were carried out, in particular, by the Fiamme Gialle of the Cerignola and San Severo Companies, as well as the Tenenze of Vieste, San Nicandro Garganico and Torre Fantine. The activity, which involved the entire province of Foggia, revealed that the recipients of the subsidy granted by the Inps did not meet the requirements. According to the Gdf, criminal proceedings have been initiated against those who have unduly received the citizenship income. The Guardia di Finanza points out that these proceedings are still at the preliminary investigation stage and, for this reason, all the suspects cannot be considered guilty until an irrevocable conviction is pronounced.

Numerous irregularities were allegedly found by the Guardia di Finanza, ranging from the lack of the requirement of actual residence in the national territory to false declarations on the composition of the family unit, from the omission of the declaration of the performance of work activities, in several cases also carried out off the books, to the loss of the right to the benefit as a result of the state of detention. In a municipality in the Gargano region, an entire household allegedly submitted applications for citizenship income, attaching a substitute declaration lacking the indication of the exact composition of the household, thus unduly collecting a total sum of over 21,400 euro.
