Citroën C5 aircross, what the plug-in hybrid with 90 km range looks and feels like

Characteristic is the light signature, both at the front and at the rear, where the latter has been studied and designed not only for an aesthetic purpose but also a functional one; in fact, it maximises the aerodynamic coefficient.

Inside the passenger compartment the space is well organised and has numerous storage compartments. The seats are wide and also adjustable in the side cushion, so that everyone can find the best position. In the versions tested, both in Max trim, there is both a massage function and seat cooling and heating.

The driver can count on a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a well adjustable head-up display with information clearly displayed. While in the centre of the dashboard is a 13-inch touchscreen with three different screens that can be changed by scrolling across the screen and give access to on-board functions and adjustments quickly and easily.

In the top-of-the-range trim, the Max, a sunroof is also available which, thanks to a good windbreak, is low-noise and pleasant even on long journeys.

The soundproofing of the cabin is a strong point of the car, both for the Phev and the Bev version.

Rear passengers, like those in the first row, can count on a good level of comfort. There is no tunnel so they have a flat floor and can be comfortable even when travelling with five people. Even in the second row the seats are heated and have two Usb-C sockets.

The protagonist of our test, the plug-in hybrid version, is equipped with a 1.6-litre 150 hp internal combustion engine combined with a 125 kW electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery with a net capacity of 17.8 kWh, which achieves a maximum range in 100% electric mode of 96 km.

Charging is only available in AC, as in most plug-in hybrid vehicles, with a standard 3.7 kW on-board charger or an optional 7.4 kW charger.

During the test we found it to have good acceleration, with a 0-100 km/h covered in 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h.

During the test drive we drove along a mixed route that allowed us to assess the car's characteristics in both an urban and extra-urban context. Comfort is maintained and despite its size, the C5 Aircross knows how to be agile even in the most demanding contexts.
