Mysurable is a spin-off company of the University of Bologna that focuses on developing cloud solutions for diagnosing muscle ageing in the elderly. "We have to be concerned that we lengthen the quality of life and not the duration, because if this were not the case we would have a record number of people who would end up burdening the national welfare and families," emphasises Riccardo Piccioli, a past marketing manager for several multinationals and now founder of this and other start-ups. The aim is to prevent ageing from becoming frailty and frailty from turning into disability, starting precisely with the measurement of muscle ageing (sarcopenia, ed.), which should be monitored from the age of fifty.

Biological muscle strength and age and movement speed are measured by mioTest, the first cloud system for the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia, available in 4 solutions, based on a continuously updated database of scientific literature, proprietary software and algorithm, and which through artificial intelligence links the test results to the phenotype, provides objective evaluations, allows management of chronic pathologies, and personalises diet, dietary supplementation, and physical activity. 'Screening takes between five and thirty minutes,' explains Piccioli, 'and the test can be performed by anyone: the elderly people who have tested it have reported extremely positive feedback, because they have received clear indications about their condition and how to maintain or even improve it. While the doctor and the hospital have at their disposal a preventive instrumentation that is extremely simple to use, which supports and facilitates the work of diagnosis, formulation of the maintenance pathway, and monitoring'.
