Tramways, power lines, renewable energy plants. The growth of Com.Net, a leading company in the plant and infrastructure sector, is travelling along a road made up of projects such as the one that is leading to the construction of the new tramway in Florence.
Its headquarters are in Arezzo, with a network of operating offices spread throughout Tuscany and Italy. Currently, the company is involved in large projects, such as the construction of the new Florence Tramway, and collaborates with the main Italian energy operators on orders worth a total of 510 million euro. "Tuscany is one of the main markets for our business. Line 4 of the Florence Tramway is an ambitious project, covering the 11.6 kilometres of Line 4.1 and 4.2 Leopolda - Piagge and Piagge - Campi Bisenzio, corresponding to 24 stops. A strategic infrastructure that will connect Campi Bisenzio with the city centre,' explains Emanuele Genovesi, Com.Net's CEO. 'Now we are also in the testing phase of the Fortezza - Piazza San Marco section on the T2 line, and we are also working on the projects for the two new 3.2.1 lines for the Libertà - Bagno a Ripoli section and the 3.2.2 Libertà - Rovezzano section. Com.Net will be responsible in particular for the construction of the contact line and the TLC facilities, on these projects we have tenders for the next three years, worth about EUR 40 million'.
The company, which employs around 300 people (rising to 550 if we also count the allied industries), recently strengthened its team by hiring 40 new resources in the first six months of 2024 alone. For the three-year period 2024-2026, Com.Net plans to increase its staff by at least 100, focusing on young talent: 30 per cent of new hires are under 30.
Com.Net's range of services includes the construction of underground and overhead power lines and electrical substations of various voltages. The company also develops technologically advanced network installations and systems for the railway, metro and motorway sectors. Key projects include electric traction lines, intrusion and fire protection systems, infrastructure monitoring solutions, and photovoltaic and renewable energy systems. 'We are also active on other fronts,' adds Genovesi, 'particularly in the energy sector, with framework agreements with Italy's largest utility for electricity grid infrastructure activities in six Tuscan provinces. This is why we continue to hire and train young people'.
But the company's expansion leads to the expansion of its role in strategic projects for Italian utilities infrastructures thanks to its characteristics: part of the NEXTALY group, a Global Solutions Provider active in Telco, Energy, ICT and Mobility, Com.Net stands out on the national scene thanks to its integrated skills and ability to manage large-scale complex projects.
