Compromise on technical institutes, unions stop mobilisation
The ministry gives the go-ahead for the formation of internal professorships even with less than 18 hours: staffing levels safe
Key points
The trade unions Cisl Uil Snals Gilda and Anief, which had proclaimed a state of agitation over the start of the reform of technical education for the coming school year, decided to suspend it after a meeting at the Ministry of Education during which an attempt at conciliation was made. In the course of the meeting, it emerged that the administration was willing to provide for the formation of internal professorships even with a timetable of less than 18 hours, with an explicit commitment to contemplate this possibility within the framework of the indications to the regional school offices on the formation of the workforce for 2026/27.
The trade unions' satisfaction
"This constitutes a further measure to guarantee the safeguarding of teachers' tenure and educational continuity for the students involved," say the unions, who add that during the meeting, it was agreed that, within the framework of the commitments deriving from the NRP and without prejudice to possible interlocutions with the European Commission, it was necessary to commit to a revision of Ministerial Decree 29 of last February, in order to overcome the difficulties that emerged in the first application of the new courses in the following school years as well, by providing for the appropriate and necessary changes to the timetables.
The next step
The administration undertook to promptly convene a round table to discuss the issues discussed at today's meeting, from which indications for the necessary amendments to Decree Law 144/2022 may also emerge.
