Agreement between Confagricoltura and Alis: collaboration between the logistics and agri-food sectors is strengthened

Competition between countries and economic systems hinges on strategic infrastructure, which determines costs, market access and the competitiveness of businesses. This is an issue that has a decisive impact on our agri-food sector. The choice between road, rail, sea and intermodal transport, in fact, influences sustainability – both economic and environmental – and the ability to make an impact on global markets.
It is with this in mind that the partnership between Confagricoltura and Alis was established, leading to the creation of AgriFuture Italia: a permanent observatory set up by the Confederation to monitor agro-industrial infrastructure, with the aim of assessing the combined impact of technology, networks and logistics throughout the supply chain and transforming this into real competitiveness for businesses and the country.
At Masseria Li Reni in Manduria (Taranto), as part of the event organised by Alis (Association for Sustainable Intermodal Logistics) entitled “The impact of geopolitical scenarios on logistics and industrial supply chains”, the president of Confagricoltura, Massimiliano Giansanti, and the president of Alis, Guido Grimaldi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding “to strengthen collaboration between the logistics and agri-food sectors with the aim of supporting the competitiveness of these productive sectors – according to a statement – to promote increasingly efficient infrastructure, foster innovation, intermodality and the internationalisation of businesses, thereby contributing to the promotion of ‘Made in Italy’ products on national and international markets”.
In addition to the joint promotion of events, working groups, studies and technical seminars, the Memorandum of Understanding provides for participation and collaboration within the AgriFuture framework, with a view to developing analyses and initiatives capable of improving the efficiency of infrastructure and logistics for the benefit of businesses and the country as a whole.
“Today, agricultural businesses are hampered by the fragmentation of technological initiatives and the lack of a systematic analysis of regional production data. Alis is the ideal partner with whom to collaborate on our AgriFuture Italia Observatory and help bridge the infrastructure gaps that directly affect the competitiveness of the agri-food industry,” said Massimiliano Giansanti, president of Confagricoltura. Artificial intelligence, digital networks and intermodality are key factors for the growth of the primary sector and, consequently, of the national economy. Confagricoltura is ready to play its part.”
