The San Giulio Consortium has been a virtuous model against high energy prices for a quarter of a century. The energy services company of Confindustria Novara Vercelli Valsesia (Cnvv) celebrated the important milestone with a conference entitled 'Twenty-five years of free energy: balances, challenges and prospects', which took place on 30 October 2024 at the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées in Stresa.
The consortium was set up in June 1998 and was the first in Italy to become operational on 1 November 1999. 'From the initial seventeen companies, which immediately took advantage of the benefits of the liberalisation of the electricity market, growth has been constant,' explained president Marco Dalla Rosa. 'There are currently 150 consortium member companies and they have a total annual electricity consumption of about 340 GWh in more than 450 meters, while almost 360 Pdr consume about 60,000,000 Smc of natural gas, the management of which began in 2006.
In addition to specialised energy consultancy, the Consortium provides companies with many value-added services, such as withdrawal monitoring (active for over 15 years on the main meters and useful both for planning actual energy needs and for correctly sizing energy efficiency measures), pre-billing and subsequent analysis of supplier invoices (which has allowed significant cost recoveries in recent years), 'Energy Audits' and technical support at privileged conditions. Its board of directors includes, along with chairman Dalla Rosa (managing director Faco), Fabio Leonardi (managing director Igor), Eraldo Peccetti (chairman and managing director Colines Group), Massimiliano Preti (managing director Gessi Holding), Fabio Saini (managing director and technical director Laica), and Federico Zaveri (managing director Nuova Fima). Prosecutor is Marco Mainini, Energy Manager of Cnvv.
Alberto Gusmeroli, chairman of the Chamber's Productive Activities Commission, also spoke remotely at the conference, which offered food for thought on the geopolitical situation, market prospects and energy production. The speeches highlighted the evolution of the services offered by the Consortium of Confindustria Novara Vercelli Valsesia, which has increasingly shifted from being a commercial intermediary to providing services and consultancy for energy saving and efficiency measures, supply certifications, and support for sustainability paths to encourage the energy and ecological transition of local companies.
