Diesel over 2.1 euro per litre. Peaks in Bolzano, Calabria and Liguria
Despite calls for excise duty cuts, they say, diesel prices continue to rise, with motorways losing the record for the most expensive fuel.
"Diesel exceeds 2.1 euro per litre throughout Italy. Even the few regions that were missing from the roll-call yesterday, today have exceeded that limit. That is why, unheeded, we had been, unfortunately the only ones, to ask, as an exception to the alignment of excise duties demanded by Europe, for a differentiated cut in excise duties between petrol and diesel'. So says Massimiliano Dona, president of the National Consumers Union.
Where it costs more
"The only good news today is that the highways, thanks to the Aiscat-Mit agreement, lose the record for the most expensive diesel for the first time. They still retain that of petrol, although they are the only ones to have reduced their prices from yesterday to today with a drop of 55 cents compared to yesterday for a 50-litre fill-up. The most expensive diesel in Italia today is sold in Bolzano, then Calabria and then Liguria,' concludes Dona.
