The 2025-2027 Industrial Plan, in continuity with the guidelines of previous years, confirms the strategy of supporting the productive fabric, providing services to companies with the aim of making our territory increasingly attractive'. Words from the president of Cosef (Friuli Economic Development Consortium) Marco Bruseschi, after the unanimous approval of the document, the first prepared by the new board of directors, appointed last June.

Bruseschi and director Roberto Tomè illustrated to the members the investments planned for the next three years, totalling EUR 71.31 million. The targets,' they added, 'have been shared with the FVG Region and the most important local institutions, including business associations. The Consortium's objective "is to pursue the virtuous model of Eco Industrial Parks, ecological industrial parks that provide increasingly integrated services, reducing environmental impact and increasing the efficiency of production models in compliance with the objectives imposed by both the energy transition and European regulations.

In detail, the interventions in urbanisation and infrastructure works planned over the next three years are worth EUR 64.38 million. On the other hand, planned maintenance works in industrial areas, junctions, the purification plant, and networks and plants over the next three years total 4.6 million. The remaining EUR 2.33 million are earmarked for asset management, marketing, and land planning.

The interventions

.

"Among the most significant projects planned for the next three years," Tomè emphasises, "are the construction of a new railway connection for the ZIU (Udine industrial zone), as well as infrastructure works for the creation of a logistics centre in the former Eurofer area. In ZIAF (Alto Friuli industrial zone), on the other hand, the construction of a roundabout is planned, with an adjoining car park at the intersection of the motorway exit with Provincial Road SP 49, while in ZIMA (Manzano industrial zone) a local infrastructure will be built to improve the business climate in the chair district. Moreover,' Tomè continues, 'two very important works are nearing completion: OP51, which envisages the construction of a new entrance slip road to the north of the ZIU, and OP73, which envisages the construction of a new car park in the area outside Porto Margreth, in ZIAC (Zona industriale Aussa Corno, ed.)'. Then, at the beginning of 2025, work will begin on the construction of a business centre aimed at providing a whole series of services related to corporate welfare (from the canteen serving the industrial area, to the medical centre and fitness areas) at the disposal of the employees of the companies located there and of the territory. "These are no less important interventions," Tomè concludes, "with benefits of a social nature, for the benefit of the community.

Transportation

.

During the three-year period 2025 - 2027,' continues Bruseschi, 'many important interventions have been planned in the railway sector in order to strengthen and renew the logistics system available to Cosef with the aim of reducing road transport, thereby encouraging sustainable transport models.

Also in the area of sustainable transport models, the first activities were started on the Programme Agreement for the "promotion and development of bicycle mobility on the home-work routes in the Cosef industrial areas - (ZIU and Alto Friuli subdivisions)" stipulated at the beginning of 2024 between the Region, COSEF and two pilot companies (Freud Spa, Fantoni Spa) located in the ZIU and Alto Friuli areas, respectively.

In terms of energy, on the other hand," the programme states, "it is certainly necessary to make both the consortium's utilities and the industrial utilities of the companies established more efficient, resorting if possible to thermal and/or system recovery, to production systems that use renewable sources for the production of both electrical and thermal energy, with the aim of also achieving a positive economic impact in terms of reducing general system costs. In this sense, the Consortium has launched an energy survey aimed at maximum savings and efficiency of available resources.

"With this in mind," the president confirms, "it is necessary to make industrial zones as energy self-sufficient as possible. In this sense, the areas would be configured as autonomous energy districts, on the one hand equipped with production systems and digitised systems for the real-time measurement and control of their production capacity, and on the other able to regulate and utilise all available internal resources, giving preference to them over the purchase of energy from outside.
