Casualty situation: 11 patients are hospitalised at Niguarda Hospital in Milan. The other three are still hospitalised in Switzerland
Key points
The bodies of five of the six young Italian victims of the tragedy that devastated the 'Le Constellation' bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on New Year's Eve, returned to Italy this morning aboard an Air Force plane that landed at Linate airport. They are 16-year-old Bolognese Giovanni Tamburi, 17-year-old Genoese golfer living in Dubai Emanuele Galeppini, 16-year-old Milanese Achille Barosi, 16-year-old Milanese Chiara Costanzo and 16-year-old Roman Riccardo Minghetti, who was later transferred to Rome Ciampino airport. For 15-year-old Italian-Swiss Sofia Prosperi, on the other hand, a transfer to Lugano was ordered.
The death toll is ''definitive'', said the Italian ambassador to Bern, Gian Lorenzo Cornado.
The funeral chambers for Achille Barosi and Chiara Costanz have been opened in Milan. Achille Barosi's funeral chamber has been set up in the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, where the funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, 7 January. For Chiara Costanzo, the funeral chamber has been set up in the chapel of Collegio San Carlo, which the girl attended, while the funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
The bodies of Emanuele Galeppini and Giovanni Tamburi were also transported to Linate, then taken to their respective cities of origin Genoa and Bologna. In Genoa, Emanuele Galeppini's funeral chamber was opened in the church of the Capuchin friars in the San Martino hospital, while Giovanni Tamburi's funeral will be celebrated in Bologna's San Pietro cathedral on Wednesday.
