Crans-Montana, precautionary measures against Jessica Moretti extended by three months
According to the prosecutor, the danger of the Moretti family, who own a house in Cannes, fleeing to France had 'intensified', but the court disagreed with this assessment and confirmed the measures decided in January and expiring
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office in Sion, the Court for Coercive Measures of the Canton of Valais has extended by three months, until 10 July, the signature and travel ban measures for Jessica Moretti, who is being investigated for manslaughter, wounding and arson in the Constellation fire in Crans-Montana.
According to the prosecutor, the danger of the Moretti family, which owns a house in Cannes, escaping to France had 'intensified', but the court disagreed with this assessment and confirmed the measures decided in January, which are due to expire.
The order of the Court of Sion, contained in the investigation file on the Constellation fire in CRans-Montana, in which 41 people died and 115 were injured, dates back to 14 April. In the hearing that preceded the decision, the public ministry recalled that 'the Moretti family is currently in a position to have a foothold in its Cannes flat, which the French authorities refused to seize'. According to the judge of coercive measures, on the other hand, 'the anonymity sought by a person on the run is impossible to realise in this case given the international dimension assumed by the affair, which is widely mediatised'. The precautionary measures against Jacques Moretti, who is under investigation with his wife Jessica, remain in force for the time being.
