Cristiano Ronaldo suspended from the Portuguese national team after leaving the training camp
The 41-year-old had left the squad in Copenhagen ahead of the Nations League match against Denmark, following a row with manager Jorge Jesus
The Portuguese Football Federation has ordered the provisional suspension of Cristiano Ronaldo and launched disciplinary proceedings following the striker’s early departure from the national team’s training camp. This has been reported by the Portuguese media, citing the federation.
The 41-year-old had left the squad in Copenhagen ahead of the Nations League match against Denmark, following a row with manager Jorge Jesus over his role in the team. Ronaldo, who was left on the bench against Norway, had accused the manager in a lengthy Instagram post of failing to honour the agreements regarding his role.
Federal regulations stipulate that anyone who fails to attend a national team engagement without a valid reason faces a suspension of between one and six months, as well as a possible fine. Ronaldo has apologised for his behaviour and stated that he is prepared to serve any penalty imposed, whilst confirming his willingness to return to the national team.
