Placing the first strategic storage site for critical raw materials in Europe in the area of Marghera, Veneto. The (re)confirmation came from Enterprise Minister Adolfo Urso, who, after the recent announcements, explains that 'technicians from the Commission will arrive here in a few days to make their inspection'.
The pilot site in Europe
For Urso, who spoke on the sidelines of an electoral initiative in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso) in support of centre-right candidate Luca Pozzobon, it will be a "pilot site in Europe, the one on which others will be built later, to supply critical raw materials to Italian and European industries should there be other shocks, as we unfortunately have to anticipate
Refining and Recycling
"We think we can also create an industrial pole in the Marghera area,' he added, 'i.e. the first district for refining and recycling of critical raw materials in Italy and, I believe, in Europe, where other companies will be able to locate, also using the European tenders that are currently in progress, starting from the assumption that already in the first European tender that ended last year, four companies intended to build recycling plants of critical raw materials and raw materials in Italia.
34 critical raw materials
There are 34 critical raw materials that are considered fundamental for the development and competitiveness of European companies and these,' concluded Urso, 'will be accumulated in the strategic depot and the first one could be in Marghera, right in Italia,' while 'the second will be located in northern Europe, so that Europe will have two ports and access points, one in the south and one in the north, close to the large ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and then others will be made in other countries.
