Culture, Trieste lags behind everyone. More resources in Ferrara
Wanting to make a comparison with an outclassman from neighbouring Slovenia, one could say that the absolute dominance of Trieste in the 'Culture and leisure' sector closely resembles that exercised by the phenomenal Tadej Pogaçar in cycling. In terms of consistency - the Venezia Giulia territory has achieved its third consecutive victory - and in terms of the extent of the gap inflicted on the competition: which is still increasing and exceeds one hundred points in the 'stage' classification, remaining in the similarity with two wheels.
This is the widest gap in the six sections into which the Quality of Life survey is divided, and is amply justified by ten top ten placings, including five appearances on the podium (with the top spot in the newspaper and magazine reading index). The leader has only one point that is absolutely deficient (the last place in municipal administrators under 40 years of age, where, on the contrary, Agrigento still stands out), but it is strengthened by two new parameters that came into play this year.
Indeed, Trieste is seventh in terms of the spread of non-profit organisations - in which Trento wins, immediately followed by other provinces in the deep north - and is second, again in relation to population, for the number of museums it has. An indicator that sees the Naples in the lead: the capital of Campania leads a quintet that also includes Rome, Milan and Florence, taking the cue to climb to 37th place in the overall ranking, with a gain of some thirty positions.
In terms of restaurant presence, it is Savona that excels ahead of Grosseto, Nuoro and Livorno. At the bottom of the ranking are six Lombardy provinces. Confirmed the successes of Bari (climate), Florence (electoral turnout), Verona (show attendance), Udine (gyms, swimming pools, wellness centres and spas), Massa Carrara (bookshops) and Salerno (protected areas). On the other hand, in the municipalities' spending on culture Ferrara rises from fourth to first place.
"The 'gold medal' also goes to Pescara, but in terms of cultural offer: in this case, we are talking about the shows that have been organised locally, with the Abruzzo region improving on its already excellent third place from 2024. In the overall ranking, Florence and Rimini exchange podium steps, finishing second and third respectively. The Romagna province achieved four placings in the top five, starting with a third place for show admissions.
