Cybersecurity: 'Artificial intelligence must be protected to protect all cultures'
According to Eva Chen Ceo of Trend Micro, Ai models become a multiplier of cybersecurity impacts and are in fact a gamechanger of geopolitical dynamics.
Eva Chen is the CEO of Trend Micro: 'Software is not just technology but defines how people work, and generative AI is not just a language model, but a medium capable of affecting thought and culture. We need to protect AI to protect all cultures'.
If one looks at AI only as a technological phenomenon, one loses the overview and the whole is a vast landscape, in which geopolitical dynamics and cybersecurity operations are intertwined. In this framework, Artificial Intelligence (AI) models known as Large Language Models (LLM) become a multiplier of cybersecurity impacts and in fact, are a gamechanger of geopolitical dynamics. For this reason, global technology companies cannot disregard the role of AI and cybersecurity when defining their international strategies. Eva Chen Ceo of Trend Micro suggests an approach to follow.
Geo-techno-strategy looking at people
Adaptive Strategy for the Sustainability of Technological Development
The manager clarifies that "Trend Micro is a cybersecurity company, but before that a software company, which originated outside the United States, and although today much of the revenue comes from the US, in fact more than a billion dollars of profits come from different countries, which have different cultures". The strategic orientation that derives from this is one of attention to diversity, "we must respect these cultures and make the technological development sustainable for each country with respect to its culture". The strategy in the use of AI for cybersecurity must therefore be adaptive and flexible for each country in which it operates: "the technological development strategies of AI and their digital protection must protect and protect the cultural heritage of each country by adapting to it, reflecting values and culture, so that it is sustainable in the long term".
Some countries are only now becoming aware of the dynamics of digital sovereignty and how generative AI and cybersecurity technologies can affect their development, but not all are ready for the next phase. This is why the CEO emphasises the need to support these needs with "very specific interventions, governing the code with an engineering approach to get to the heart of the request to be addressed. Whether it is related to risk management, preventive and proactive protection or advanced defence".
