"We are very proud of the excellent result achieved by our entire team in this first edition of the International Cybersecurity Olympiad in Singapore, which is also a result of the commitment we have been pursuing since 2021 with the organisation of the Italian Cybersecurity Olympiad," comments Gaspare Ferraro, National Coordinator of the Italian Cybersecurity Olympiad. The event - hosted by the National University of Singapore, considered among the top 10 universities worldwide - saw participants compete in two days of individual CTF (Capture-The-Flag) competition on topics such as web security, reverse engineering, binary exploitation, digital forensics and cryptography.

The four students of the Italian team had been selected for the international competition on the basis of the results obtained from their participation in the Italian Cybersecurity Olympiad: this is the training and competition programme created in 2021 and organised by the CINI's Cybersecurity National Lab, supported by the National Cybersecurity Agency and under the patronage of the Italian Data Protection Authority, and aimed at Italian high school students. The programme is one of the actions aimed at implementing Measure #65 of the Implementation Plan of the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2022-2026 of the National Cybersecurity Agency.
