Damage to the Naples–Rome high-speed rail line; delays of up to 90 minutes
RFI engineers took prompt action to restore the line to full working order. According to reports, some cables had been cut and others stolen
On the Naples–Rome high-speed line, services are severely delayed due to damage caused to the track by unknown persons near Tora and Piccilli (Caserta), which occurred at around 6.50. High-speed trains may be rerouted from Naples to Rome via the conventional line through Formia, resulting in journey times up to 90 minutes longer, according to Infomobiltà, Trenitalia’s website. Among the high-speed trains directly affected are the one that departed at 6.00 am from Florence Santa Maria Novella bound for Naples Central, and the one that departed from Naples Central at 7.45 am bound for Milan.
From 8.30 am, rail services on the Rome–Naples high-speed line have resumed. RFI engineers took prompt action to restore the line to full operation. According to reports, there were instances of cut cables and a cable theft.
