Dan Greaney, Simpsons author who predicted Trump, announces White House candidacy
The screenwriter of 'Bart to the Future' presents himself as a progressive Republican, evoking Lincoln and Roosevelt, and denounces an imminent American political collapse.
In a twist worthy of the TV series, Dan Greaney, the historical author of 'The Simpsons', the man who 'predicted' Donald Trump's entry into the White House more than 20 years ago, is running for president of the United States.
Greaney announced his candidature in a press release in which he described himself as a republican progressive 'in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt'.
In addition to 'The Simpsons', Greaney, a Massachusetts native, has also written for 'The Office' and 'Borat'.
But his most famous script is probably that of the Simpsons episode 'Bart to the Future', in which Lisa Simpson finds herself inheriting the leadership of the country in the aftermath of a Trump presidency.
At the time, Greaney called the episode 'a warning to America. It simply seemed the last logical step before hitting rock bottom'.
