Il Sole 24 ORE - which lives in the front line of the changes in the world of information and communication technology on a daily basis - wanted to take up a new challenge in the field of training for digital communication and content creation professionals, setting itself the goal of bridging the gap in technical skills through the development of a new training offer, designed to explore and exploit the new frontiers of content creation and storytelling in an original way thanks to the professionalism that its journalists have acquired in this field.

The result was the training project that Sole 24 ORE Formazione - the Sole 24 Ore Training School - called 'Data, Visual Storytelling AI Journalism'.

This is the first in-depth study born out of the collaboration between journalists from Il Sole 24 Ore and the editorial offices of Info Data and Lab24, which aims to offer a complete overview of the issues that are of extreme topical interest today in journalistic communication, information and language in general, and which are related to the collection, analysis, visualisation and representation of data and integration with artificial intelligence..

"After the great success of the Masters and Courses in the Taxation area that we launched last year at the start of Sole 24 ORE Formazione's activities, we are now launching the development of an area of our training offer linked to the themes of the new way of doing journalism, which aims to train professionals - both young people debuting in the world of work and those who want to invest in upskilling or reskilling their profile - on the most innovative skills in the field of communication. We start with data journalism, the application of AI and visual communication, and we will continue with courses dedicated to audio storytelling and podcasting, and we will always do this by drawing on the great professionalism and expertise of our journalists," commentsSole 24 Ore managing director Mirja Cartia d'Asero.

The presence of the most authoritative signatures of the 24 ORE Group, leader in economic, financial and regulatory information, represents the real added value of this unprecedented course. The School's training system is strongly connected with the newspaper, with its journalists and with the documentary heritage of Il Sole 24 Ore.

The faculty, chaired in the scientific direction by Mauro Meazza, Sole 24 Ore editor-in-chief, radio presenter at Radio 24 and author of books, includes three Sole 24 Ore journalists as scientific coordinators of the course, each representing a point of reference in their own field. For Data Journalism the journalist Michela Finizio, head of the Quality of Life project, which every year elects the best and the worst Italian provinces for quality of life of its citizens, as well as collaborator for the European data journalism network. For Visual Storytelling Luca Salvioli, head of new formats of the digital Sole 24 ORE, coordinator of Lab24, the data-visual area of the Sole 24 ORE that won a Lovie Awards, a Webby Awards, the Data Journalism Award of the Glocal festival and a finalist place at the Information Is Beautiful Awards 2023. For AI Journalism Luca Tremolada, coordinator of the Sole di Tecnologia pages, science, innovation and technology expert on Il Sole 24 Ore where he works in the scientific editorial staff of Nòva 24. He teaches data journalism. He writes books. He founded Info Data.

The target audience for the Sole 24 Ore course is all communication professionals who have to deal with content storytelling on a daily basis: from staff in the marketing and communication departments of companies, marketing departments of professional firms and consultancy companies to media centres, press offices and analysts; from communication agencies to data analysts and visual journalists, journalists and editorial staff.

The course, which can be purchased as an entire course or as a modular course consisting of three individual modules, embraces data journalism, the use of artificial intelligence, visual journalism with a focus on the technological dimension and internationalisation. 18 meetings, therefore, for 3 modules that correspond to the 3 major thematic areas of Data Journalism, Visual Storytelling and AI Journalism.

The opportunity to follow some lectures at a distance in live streaming mode makes it possible to better reconcile work and training commitments, while interaction with colleagues and lecturers in the classroom is essential: for this reason most meetings are organised in the presence at the Milan offices of the 24 ORE Group.
