Dba Group will build the 'green' pavilion at Ferrara Prison
The near-zero energy building will have a total accommodation capacity of 80 inmates, in single prison cells and dedicated toilets. Two walk-in courtyards, a horticultural greenhouse area, an outdoor technology area and an ecological island will also be constructed
A zero-impact prison pavilion. DBA Group Spa - a company quoted on the Euronext Growth Milan market of the Italian Stock Exchange, specialised in technical consultancy, engineering, project management and ICT solutions for buildings and infrastructures - has been awarded, together with Impresa Devi Impianti Srl, the integrated contract for the design and construction of the new pavilion in the Ferrara prison (within the framework of a tender called by the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport).
The aim of the intervention is to expand the prison facility, not only with new detention spaces but also collective or communal service rooms, worship rooms and new areas for the well-being of prisoners.
Dba Spa is working on the design of a near-zero energy building (Nzeb - Nearly Zero Energy Building) with a total accommodation capacity of 80 inmates, organised in individual detention cells and equipped with a dedicated toilet. Completing the new pavilion are two walk-in courtyards, an area for horticultural greenhouses, an outdoor technological area and an ecological island.
"This intervention represents an important opportunity for us to put at the service of the institutions the skills we have gained in over fifty years of experience in the realisation of complex real estate projects, in Italy and abroad," said Daniele De Bettin, President of Dba Group Spa. "We can contribute to creating new spaces for the recreational and occupational activities of inmates in a project that combines sustainability and social responsibility, with the aim of also improving living conditions during detention.
