Francesco Trapani, the 68-year-old entrepreneur and manager, descendant of the Bulgari family, died yesterday at his home in Rome. He directed as CEO for thirty years the maison founded in 1884 and became one of the major global players in the luxury sector, present in jewellery, watches, fragrances, leather goods and prestigious hospitality.
Under his leadership since 1984, the brand accelerated the internationalisation of its activities. In July 1995, Trapani led the Bulgari company to listing on the Italian stock exchange, where it remained until 2011, when the brand became part of the French group Lvmh.
The Florence Group Entrepreneurial Enterprise
After his managerial leadership of Bulgari, Trapani took on new professional challenges with important roles in Clessidra, Bluebell Capital Partners, Tiffany, Tages Group and VAM Investments and, above all, he took a leap into a new entrepreneurial dimension, creating Gruppo Florence, Italy's leading industrial platform serving the high-end luxury industry. The idea is to bring together the entire fashion supply chain that feeds the haute couture brands in the territories and is one of the great pillars of Italian made in Italy and Italian exports.
