James Earl Jones, actor and voice actor whose deep baritone voice has resonated in numerous films from Star Wars toThe Lion King, has died at the age of 93 surrounded by family. This was announced by a spokesman without specifying the cause of death. In a career spanning seven decades, Jones had voiced iconic characters such as the villainous Darth Vader (Vader in the original version) in the George Lucas franchise and the lion Mufasa in the Disney film. A contemporary of Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte, he had won two Tonys, two Emmys and a lifetime achievement Oscar.
