Actress Paola Gassman, daughter of the immense Vittorio and star, together with her husband Ugo Pagliai, of the Italian theatre scene, had been ill for some time at the age of 78. Her lifelong companion, actor Ugo Pagliai, along with her children Simona and Tommaso and the whole family, gave the sad news. The artistic daughter of Vittorio Gassman and prose actress Nora Ricci, she was also the sister of Vittoria Gassman, Alessandro Gassmann and Jacopo Gassman. She graduated from the 'Silvio D'Amico' Academy of Dramatic Art in 1968 and since then has devoted herself almost exclusively to the theatre, with the exception of a few significant television appearances, which have seen her appear in successful comedies and dramas
He took part in numerous theatre productions. Starting with A Debt Paid by John Osborne, which was his debut, and then during the three years he spent in the Teatro Libero company, directed by Luca Ronconi, which produced the famous Orlando furioso, with which he appeared in many European countries, also landing in the United States, culminating in an important serialised television adaptation. Among her most significant shows: La cucina di Wesker, directed by Lina Wertmuller, Spettri by Ibsen, Processo di famiglia by Diego Fabbri, Cesare o nessuno and Fa male il teatro in which she was directed by her father Vittorio Gassman.
With the Pagliai-Gassman theatre company, he staged many shows in both the dramatic and comic and brilliant genres, interpreting classics by Pirandello, Goldoni and Shakespeare. He acted with directors of the calibre of Squarzina, Castri, Bolognini, Piccardi, Sciaccaluga, Ronconi and Maccarinelli. In his later years with Ugo Pagliai, he also devoted himself to poetry and all those pieces that are linked to his memory and his repertoire. In her last period, she also performed Romeo e Giulietta, una canzone d'amore, together with her husband. She had also published the autobiography Una grande famiglia dietro le spalle with Marsilio Editore.
