Giorgetti: cautious optimism regarding the September deficit-to-GDP ratio; possible revisions linked to the Superbonus

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - “With regard to the Excessive Deficit Procedure, whilst maintaining a degree of cautious optimism, we await the assessments of the relevant bodies on the data analysed to date on a forward-looking basis; investigations are also underway into the fundamental cause of the deviation – namely the Superbonus – regarding its legitimacy and permanence. For these reasons, the estimate may be revised downwards when the figures are published on 22 September.” This was stated by the Minister for the Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti during Question Time, noting that the discrepancy compared with the forecast contained in the 2025 Draft Fiscal Plan (DPFP) stemmed essentially from unexpected new claims for the Superbonus, for works authorised under the previous legislation, and that the amount, currently estimated at 8.4 billion, is constantly being updated due to the identification of irregularities by the Revenue Agency.
