Denmark, train collision in Kagerup: several injured

Two regional trains collided this morning in Kagerup, about 50 kilometres north of Copenhagen in Denmark. According to the police and local emergency services there were several injured, between five and ten at least. At the moment the dynamics of what happened are still unclear and there is no detailed information on the condition of the people on board, according to the Danish news agency, Ritzau.

"A serious train accident has occurred. Two trains have collided and a large number of police officers and emergency services personnel are on the scene," the local police wrote in a statement. "We received the alert at exactly 6.30am," said Tim Simonsen, spokesman for the emergency services. "It was a head-on collision and there are injuries among the passengers," he added. The media reported that about ten people were injured, but their conditions were not specified.

"All passengers were evacuated from the train," said Simonsen. Train accidents are rare in Denmark, but in 2019 a collision involving a passenger train caused eight deaths and 16 injuries. In August 2025, one person died after a collision between a train and a farm vehicle.
