Business plan to double turnover for the Desa Group, a medium-sized Lombardy-based company specialising in the manufacture of detergents and personal care products, including the Chanteclair, Quasar, Spuma di Sciampagna and Sauber ranges. The Group is owned by the Silva, Sala and Malagoli families, now in their third generation. The 2025 financial statements, prepared for the first time in accordance with IFRS standards, reached €464 million, up 7% on the previous year, with an improvement in EBITDA exceeding 27% compared to 25.4% in 2024. This growth was driven by the two main sectors, home care and personal care, with 274 million units sold worldwide in 2025 (+11 million), whilst sales in the pharmaceutical sector remained stable.
The business plan for the period 2027–2034 aims to double turnover, a target to be achieved through a €70 million investment programme designed to boost production and improve the efficiency of the supply chain. Specifically, 34 million of this sum will be allocated to upgrading production lines, 10 million to new facilities, whilst 26 million has already been earmarked for the new automated warehouses in Sant’Agata Bolognese, on the outskirts of the provincial capital.
“We are very pleased with the results achieved, which are in line with our mission to be a global detergent company. The Italian market remains the foundation of our business, upon which we are building our international growth, which has already got off to a successful start in France, China and Eastern Europe,” said Marco Silva, Group Chairman. “Expansion into international markets is a strategic driver for our Group. In addition to our flagship brand Chanteclair, Quasar, Spuma di Sciampagna and Sauber will also support the evolution of our business, building on our best-sellers, both in Italy and worldwide.”
The Group, in which the Azzurra Capital fund acquired a 30% stake in November 2023, has four factories in Italia, around 540 employees, 40 international trading partners and a sales office in France, where the sales subsidiary Alliance SAS has seen growth of 41%. Two-thirds of turnover is generated in Italia, whilst exports have grown by an average of 16%. The products, led by the Chanteclair range, are distributed across more than 40 markets, particularly in China, which has become the largest market after Italia, followed by France, Romania and Switzerland. The Group was founded in Seregno, in the province of Monza and Brianza, in 1908 as a soap factory and has a century-long history; in recent years, it has been committed to developing new products based on R&D and a commitment to sustainability in its operations.
