Diesel: price drops by 11 cents following excise duty cut – please report any irregularities to the GdF
The Price Monitoring Authority of the Ministry of Enterprise has identified the facilities that have failed to update their price lists
The first day is fine, but 48 hours after the excise duty cut, the price displays at petrol stations must be updated. This is the reasoning that prompted the Ministry for Enterprise to report to the Guardia di Finanza those petrol stations that have not reduced their prices by 17 cents per litre – the amount approved by the Government’s latest cut.
Prices
Today, two days after the Cabinet meeting at which the discount at petrol stations was reinstated (though this time only for diesel), a litre of diesel costs 2.074 euros. That is 11 cents less than the 2.185 euros recorded on Monday morning. It is also worth noting that, compared with Monday, the price of Brent crude has fallen slightly, reaching around $85 per barrel.
The list
For this reason, the Mimit Price Monitoring Authority has forwarded to the Guardia di Finanza a list of petrol stations ‘that have not yet adjusted their fuel prices at the pump in line with the excise duty cut ordered by the Government, highlighting the most significant anomalies detected’.
The ministry explains that the referral “is being made in accordance with the special control regime introduced by the decree-law approved in March by the Council of Ministers. The findings of the Gdf’s investigations, accompanied by an analytical report, will be forwarded by the Data Protection Authority to the judicial authorities”.
