From predictive security to anti-theft technologies: telematics makes risk management and insurance processes faster and more preventative
Telematics devices natively installed in cars have further stimulated the innovation process of IoT service operators, which is increasingly focused on predictive and preventive functions related to driver safety and asset management.
Driver security
More than 220 metres are travelled to write a message with a smartphone without a visual check and 173 metres to set the navigation system. Theft Prevention
Monitor in real time the risk factors of the customer's fleet and detect abnormal behaviour, such as suspicious movements or access to sensitive areas such as unauthorised workshops, wreckers, key duplication points. These are the functions provided by the predictive analysis system of Targa Telematics' Smart Vehicle Protector. Each movement is compared with historical data and, in the event of irregularities, generates an alert. The system also takes into account reports from the security manager and possible insolvencies, activating proactive monitoring to prevent misuse or theft and enable rapid intervention.
Beyond crash management
It not only reliably detects and confirms a car accident, but also provides an estimate of the damage suffered by the vehicle. The Video Damage Evaluation solution, which is integrated into Octo Telematics' suite of Crash&Claim services, starts with a video taken independently by the driver via mobile phone. The algorithm then automatically detects the damage in real time and identifies the damaged vehicle parts that need to be repaired or replaced, optimising the assessment of compensation costs and improving the accuracy of the overall repair insurance quote.
