Dnata rises to 100% of Airport Handling
The Emirates group consolidates its presence in Italia
Key points
The Emirates airport operator Dnata (Dubai Nationa Air Travel Agency) has completed the acquisition of Airport Handling, formerly Sea Ha after a 'progressive increase in the company's shareholding in recent years' from 70 to 100 per cent. This is stated in a note in which it is stressed that the group has 5,000 professionals in Italia and guarantees 'a complete range of services in 11 airports'.
The presence in Italia
These include Fiumicino airport (Rome) from 2025 and the Milan airports of Malpensa and Linate. Dnata has announced an investment of EUR 25 million to 'develop a new state-of-the-art cargo facility' at Malpensa. According to Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, Managing Director 'Airport Operations' at Dnata, the consolidation of Airport Handling 'reflects our long-standing confidence in the Italia aviation sector. From our beginnings in Dubai to our growing presence in Europe,' he explains, 'we have always pursued global standards accompanied by strong local roots. As demand continues to increase,' the manager concludes, 'we are investing in capacity, technology, and talent to continue to be the partner of choice for airlines operating in Milan, Rome, and beyond'.
The group
Founded in Dubai in 1959, Dnata has grown from a local business to one of the largest global operators of airport and travel services, now present in more than 120 airports worldwide. In Europe, recent projects include the new cargo facilities in Amsterdam and Zurich, developed to meet growing demand and increase operational capacity.
