A 42-year-old on-call doctor from the province of Varese, accused of abusing nine young patients aged between 20 and 40, was sentenced to ten years in prison.
This was decided by Milan's gup Luigi Iannelli at the end of the abbreviated trial for aggravated sexual assault and forgery, finding the 42-year-old professional guilty of all charges and accepting the request for punishment made by prosecutor Alessia Menegazzo.
The doctor, who worked in outpatient clinics between Milan, San Giuliano Milanese and San Donato, was the recipient of two pre-trial detention orders, the last of which was placed under house arrest, on charges of abusing patients on the pretext of visiting them.
After the first arrest following the complaint of an initial patient, the number of cases had risen to four, then to seven between October 2022 and autumn 2023, and finally to nine with further complaints.
The doctor, defined by the gip Cristian Mariani as 'a serial rapist lacking inhibitory restraints', allegedly used 'fraudulent and abrupt methods to overcome the resistance' of his victims, also abusing his profession. Charges to which was also added that of forgery for altering some medical certificates.
