After the controversy and inconvenience caused by the train chaos in Rome, where on 2 October circulation was halted for hours due to a power line failure, today, 5 October, FS CEO Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, together with colleagues from FS, RFI and Trenitalia, carried out an inspection of the electrical cabin that powers the circulation systems at the Rome Node. This was announced by the CEO himself in a statement posted on Linkedin. "It was an opportunity to take stock of the technical investigations that we started after Wednesday's power supply failure," he said.

Adjustment in the coming days

"The managers in charge and the technicians dedicated to the management of the installations illustrated to RFI's CEO and myself," continued Donnarumma, "the chain of events that caused the malfunction. It was indeed not very predictable, but in any case avoidable by adopting more technologically advanced devices and even more effective procedures. I have been assured that in a few days all the installations at the main network nodes will be upgraded'.

After all, Wednesday 2 October was a day of great inconvenience. More than a hundred cancelled trains including high-speed, intercity and regional trains, delays of up to four hours, chaos in stations and delays into the evening, thousands of tourists and commuters stranded on platforms waiting for news. A power failure in the Rome railway junction has split Italy in two, creating enormous inconvenience for travellers.
