DPFP: Giorgetti says, once certain clauses are removed, the deficit will be below 3 per cent in 2027 and 2028

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - "I believe that, given the current context, we must take a cautious approach to the excessive deficit procedure; the European Commission has repeatedly made it clear that the deficit figures for 2027 and 2028, which you see above 3 per cent, must be adjusted to exclude the impact of the defence and energy clauses; if adjusted by 0.6 per cent, as I have said, the figure falls below 3 per cent; given that here the decimals and cents make all the difference, the aim is to remain below 3 per cent in 2026 and thus create further room for manoeuvre”. This was stated by the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti.
