According to reports by the public broadcaster Suspilne, Ukrainian special forces with the central intelligence directorate of the Kiev Defence Ministry (Gur) have launched a complex amphibious infiltration operation in Pokrovsk, in order to carry out a counter-attack and attempt to break the grip of the Russian siege on the city of Donetsk in the Donbass. Assault teams of military intelligence have entered areas of the city considered under control by the Russian command. It is emphasised that these areas are considered to be of strategic importance for Ukrainian logistics. Ukrainian intelligence director Budanov is on the spot and is personally directing the operation. The Russian Defence Ministry claims that Ukrainian soldiers in Pokrovsk have begun to surrender and does so by publishing what it presents as 'testimonies of prisoners of war'.

Secondo Syrsky, la situazione di Pokrovsky è difficile. “I nostri soldati devono contenere la pressione di un gruppo nemico di diverse migliaia di uomini, che continua a tentare di infiltrarsi nelle zone residenziali e di interrompere le nostre vie di rifornimento. Tuttavia, non vi è alcun accerchiamento o blocco delle città”, ha affermato in un post su Telegram.
