Thirty-five million euro are on the way for farms growing citrus, almond, pistachio and olive trees affected by drought. This was announced by Agea, specifying that applications for support under Measure 23 can be submitted from 23 September.
With this notice, the Region of Sicily implements, for the year 2025, the 'exceptional temporary support measures in favour of farmers particularly affected by natural disasters'.
Support will be given to companies that have suffered damage as a result of events occurring after 1 January 2024 and the available resources will be concentrated on those most affected on the basis of objective criteria: the loss must be at least 30% of production potential as a result of a 'formally recognised' natural disaster.
Applications must be submitted by filling in the automatic application. The paying agency (Agea) has in fact made available to the applicant a pre-filled automatic aid application, with the information acquired from the farm file and included in the graphic information layer transmitted by the Region of Sicily.
Thanks to the graphical cultivation plan validated in Sian, the respective plots will be automatically classified for aid, as the continuous monitoring checks of the AMS (Area monitoring system) are already applied: a control model for the eligibility for reimbursement 'predetermined' at the level of each farmer-beneficiary.
